Architecture
Architecture is one of my favorite genre's to photograph, with emphasis on historic and ancient architecture taking preference over modern forms.
I am particularly drawn to Asian and European styles, as they capture so much history, mystery, and culture.
Access to ancient Chinese temples are in abundance where I currently live in Beijing, but other Asian countries are also within easy reach such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam etc...
Asian Architecture:
Asian architecture really fascinates me, some of my photographs of ancient temples that date back thousands of years do not use any form of fixing (e.g. no screws or nails), they are assembled using ancient crafts of various mortice and tenor joints that fit perfectly together. If one considers the engineering, design, and planning that goes in to such a building it's mind-blowing.
I have found myself in awe in the presence of some of these architectural master pieces, and when you look at the scale of these sites is utterly breathtaking.
European Architecture:
Unlike North American architecture, European architecture has much more history through many years of evolution, as well as far more variety, which makes it more interesting. Each country in Europe also has its own charcter and styles with some shared components, making for photographers dream.
North American Architecture:
Personally, I fond North American architect quite interesting. Although it does not have the history and culture of European or Asian architecture, it still possesses it's own uniqueness and character.
